THE BIGGEST FUN RUN IN COUNTRY NEW SOUTH WALES

The Edgell Jog commenced in 1976 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Edgell organisation.

Edgell was the first company in Australia to start canning vegetables with the launch of Edgell Asparagus in 1926 in Bathurst. It is an Australian icon synonymous with quality-canned vegetables, prized for taste, convenience and value for money. In 1995 Simplot Australia founded when Edgell was acquired by the JP Simplot Company. Simplot Australia is now the major sponsor of this non-profit community event.

The first jog attracted 800 competitors and was called the Jubilee Jog. Over the years the total number of participants is in excess of 45,000.

With the rise in awareness to health and fitness through exercise, the Edgell Jog promises an enjoyable family fun outing and the category and draw prizes for finishing within the 90 minute time limit is an extra incentive.

Many local businesses support the Jog each year with prizes or cash. All our valuable sponsors and supporters are acknowledged on our Sponsors page.

Local service organisations including Rotary, Quota, Scouts and Guides give voluntary suport on race day and in turn are acknowledged by a cash donation. Any surplus funding is donated to worthy local charities, selected by the committee each year.

The long standing race record held by Robert McDonald of 21.51 minutes (1980) was broken by Shaun Creighton in 1997 with 21.46 minutes. The ladies record stands at 25.33 minutes and is held by Sonia Terry (1989).

The first three male and female competitors to finish receive cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $300 respectively and if the course record is broken then an additional $500 will be awarded.

All competitors are automatically eligible for all age category prizes. There are seven team categories available including Husband and Wife, Parent and Child (U12), Stroller (Parent and Infant), Fancy Dress and Out of Town Family of Four.

If you are a Bathurst Business team consisting of three or more employees, you'll be in the running for a draw prize of delicious morning tea on Monday 13 September catered by Al Dente. There's also a prize for the fastest team.

The major draw prize for 2010 is a Fiji Holiday for two, including air fares and transfers, five nights accommodation in a 5 Star Ocean View Room with breakfast at the beautiful Sheraton Fiji Resort provided by Harvey World Travel and Hines Construction.

Plus you could win a 42" plasma television donated by Retravision Bathurst or one of two road bikes donated by Belly's Bikes. At the end of your race, place your Edgell Jog race bib in the barrel and be present at the prize giving to be eligible for these great prizes.

Enter before 9 September and be in the Early Bird Prize Draw for $250 provided by Greater Building Society.

Electronic timing shoe tags will be introduced to the Jog in 2010. The plastic tags are laced into competitor's shoes and record of the real-time data as entrants cross timing mats on the ground. This will give an accurate time taken to run the 8kms. It doesn't matter if you start at the front or the back of the field because your individual time won't begin until you step over the mat. Tags must be returned at the end of the race or a $50 fine will be imposed.
